For Sixth-Round Draft Choice : Penguins Trade Goalie to Calgary

The Pittsburgh Penguins today traded goalie Steve Guenette to the Calgary Flames for a sixth-round draft choice in the NHL’s 1989 entry draft in June.

The Penguins also recalled three players from their Muskegon, Mich., farm team, including center Dave McLlwain, right wing Mark Recchi and left wing Kevin Stevens. The team also sent goalie Wendell Young to Muskegon.

Guenette played 10 games for Muskegon, with a 3.92 goals-against average. He was 6-4.

In Pittsburgh this season, Guenette played in 11 games with a 4.29 goals-against average and was 5-6.

McLlwain, in 31 games with Muskegon, had 20 goals and 20 assists for 40 points and 29 penalty minutes.

Recchi, in 31 games with Muskegon, had 24 goals and 27 assists for 51 points, and 49 penalty minutes.

Stevens, in 26 games with Muskegon, had 13 goals and 20 assists for 33 points and 55 penalty minutes.

Young played four games for the Penguins this season, with a 6.12 goals-against average. He was 2-2.
