At least 150,000 workers will be brought into Armenia to help rebuild homes and public buildings destroyed and damaged in last month’s earthquake, Deputy Premier Yuri Batalin announced. He added that a two-year rebuilding program will probably cost about $16.5 billion--much more than previously estimated. Batalin put the death toll in the Dec. 7 quake at 25,000, saying that figure is accurate to within 1,500. Half a million were left homeless and more than 100,000 were evacuated.
