Local News in Brief : Landowner Files Suit Over Delays in Project

Share

A Topanga Canyon landowner embroiled in a nine-year dispute with Los Angeles County over development of a $100-million country club has sued the county over alleged delays to the project.

Christopher R. Wojciechowski is seeking $1.2 million in damages suffered since county supervisors approved a scaled-back project Aug. 4.

Supervisors voted 3 to 0 to authorize construction of 150 homes around a golf course. They rejected Wojciechowski’s request to build a hotel, a museum, a shopping center and 150 homes around the golf links. The 257-acre site is a mile south of Woodland Hills.

The supervisors’ vote, a victory for Topanga Canyon homeowners who had opposed the project, came during the 29th public hearing scheduled for the resort project.

Before that hearing, Wojciechowski threatened to sue the county for delaying his application.

A spokesman said county planners have been awaiting revised plans from Wojciechowski since the August hearing.
