Local News in Brief : Huntington Beach : Description Released of Man Found Burned

Share

Huntington Beach police on Wednesday released a description of a man whose badly burned body was discovered on a remote service road near the beach Sunday night.

The man was described as 18 to 28 years old, 5 feet 11 inches tall with a slight build. He had brown eyes, brown hair and a neatly trimmed brown mustache with red highlights, Police Lt. Ed McErlain said.

McErlain noted that the description may not be completely accurate because it “was made under conditions where the body was burned badly.” Nevertheless, police--who have not been able to identify the victim through fingerprints and dental records--hope that someone will recognize him from the description.

Police now believe that the man was killed before he was taken to a service road about a mile northwest of Golden West Street, doused with a flammable liquid and set on fire, McErlain said. An autopsy was conducted, but McErlain said he cannot discuss the results because the death is still under investigation.

A Huntington Beach police officer discovered the charred remains while he was patrolling the area about 11:15 p.m. Sunday.

McErlain asked that anyone who may have information regarding the case call police at (714) 536-5951 or 969-2272.
