Local News in Brief : Private Investigator Acquitted in Slaying
A private investigator from Utah was acquitted of murder in the alleged contract killing of a Glendale businessman.
Robert N. Goode, 29, of Orem, spent 2 1/2 years in jail awaiting trial before being found innocent by a Los Angeles County Superior Court jury.
Goode was charged with murder in the slaying of Frank Fitzpatrick, who owned a telephone equipment store. Fitzpatrick was shot five times at his store on Jan. 13, 1986.
Deputy Dist. Atty. Barbara Murphy alleged during the trial that Goode had been given money by the slain man’s business partner, Connley Davidson of Irwindale. Davidson, who had previously employed Goode as a private investigator, was not charged.
