Exotic Animals Taken in String of Burglaries
From Associated Press
MINEOLA, N. Y. —
Someone is stealing the pricey pets of Long Island.
Ten snakes, two iguanas and a $1,400 cockatoo have been snatched from two pet shops in Nassau County, police said Tuesday. It was not known if the thefts were related.
A man was arrested in the cockatoo theft, but the bird was not recovered. The lizards and the snakes, and at least one other thief also remained at large, authorities said. The reptiles, all believed to be non-poisonous, had a total value of about $1,500.
