Local News in Brief : Heart Ailment Strikes Councilman

Share

Lawndale Councilman Larry Rudolph was in stable condition Wednesday afternoon after suffering heart problems and undergoing a procedure to improve blood flow through a coronary artery, according to officials at Daniel Freeman Memorial Hospital in Inglewood.

Rudolph, who some years ago underwent heart surgery, was admitted to the hospital Tuesday night, according to council colleagues. After the coronary angioplasty procedure, in which a balloon is inserted in the artery and inflated to improve blood circulation, Rudolph was transferred to the coronary care unit for further monitoring, hospital officials said Wednesday.

Also hospitalized recently was Lawndale Mayor Sarann Kruse, who has been released from Little Company of Mary Hospital in Torrance after a few days’ treatment for intestinal pain. She suffered from a viral problem and has been told to rest, according to Councilwoman Carol Norman.

Kruse is on medical leave from her work as an administrator at Northrop Corp. but is expected to attend tonight’s council meeting, Norman said.
