* Mycogen, a manufacturer of biopesticides, said it has signed a $3-million agreement with Shell Research Ltd. of Great Britain giving it rights to market Mycogen’s products worldwide, except in North America and the Far East.

Mycogen will receive an undisclosed part of the profits from the products sold by Shell, which is a unit of Royal Dutch/Shell Group, said Andrew Barnes, Mycogen vice president. Mycogen will record the $3 million from Shell as revenue over three years and use it to develop other products.

Mycogen is retaining exclusive commercial rights to sell its products in North America, Barnes said, as well as to all biopesticides developed under the Shell agreement.

The agreement is Mycogen’s second involving a Shell company in less than a year. Last summer, the company signed a separate agreement with International Bio-Synthetics for the manufacture of Mycogen’s biopesticides.

IBIS is a joint venture of units of Royal Dutch/Shell and Royal Gist-Brocades of the Netherlands.
