KGIL-AM talk show personality Carole Hemingway had an unusual request the other day. With retired Air Force Maj. Gen. Richard V. Secord, who’s embroiled in the Iran-Contra scandal, set to appear on her program, his publicity representative called to ask if Hemingway would provide cab fare for Secord from his airport hotel to the KGIL studios in the San Fernando Valley. Told that was not possible, he looked elsewhere and finally called later to say the hotel would pick up the roughly $50 cab tab. During their live interview, Secord told Hemingway that he has $8 million frozen in a Swiss bank account.
