Local News in Brief : Driver Pleads Innocent in 4 Pedestrians’ Deaths

A Glendale man charged with killing four pedestrians while driving drunk has been arraigned in Pasadena Superior Court.

William K. Conway, 27, pleaded not guilty Tuesday to four counts of manslaughter and two counts of causing an accident with injuries while driving under the influence of alcohol.

If convicted, he could be sentenced to 17 years and 8 months in prison.

Superior Court Judge Gilbert C. Alston ordered the former part-time Glendale maintenance worker to appear for a pretrial hearing Feb. 7.

Conway is being held in Los Angeles County Jail in lieu of $100,000 bail.

Authorities said Conway was driving south on Canada Boulevard near Verdugo Road about 8:30 p.m. July 13 when his car struck and killed members of two families waiting on a traffic island to cross the street.
