Local News in Brief : Irwindale to Give Consultant Back Pay
The Irwindale City Council has approved the payment of $53,400 to public relations consultant Xavier Hermosillo to settle his claim for back wages.
Hermosillo was hired by City Manager Charles Martin in 1987 to primarily handle questions from the media concerning the possible move of the Los Angeles Raiders to Irwindale.
Although he was paid $8,500 a month as a consultant, Hermosillo said Irwindale owed him additional money for nearly 500 hours of public relations work unconnected with the Raiders deal.
Hermosillo billed the city for the wages shortly after he resigned from the consulting job last June.
