A Whittier man was in Orange County Jail on Friday on suspicion of hit-and-run and drunk driving after leading police and CHP officers on a 30-minute chase on six Orange County freeways the night before, authorities said.

Alex Garcia, 21, allegedly ignored a California Highway Patrol officer’s order to pull over about 9:50 p.m. Thursday while driving south on the San Gabriel River Freeway. He then raced at speeds over 100 m.p.h. to the southbound Santa Ana Freeway, the eastbound Riverside Freeway, the southbound Orange Freeway, the westbound Garden Grove Freeway and the northbound San Diego Freeway before running into a center divider about 10:30 p.m., said CHP spokeswoman Leslie Hill.

Garcia hit two cars during the chase, one westbound on the Garden Grove Freeway near Garden Grove Boulevard and the other northbound on the San Diego Freeway near Seal Beach. Neither driver was injured when Garcia bumped their cars from the rear, but both vehicles sustained minor damage, Hill said.

Hill said Garcia’s blood alcohol test registered 0.22, above the 0.10 legal limit.
