A ceremony on behalf of the 2,383 Americans unaccounted for in the Vietnam War will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in front of the Civic Center.

Robert J. Kakuk, a spokesman for Brothers of Viet-Nam, a newly formed organization of Vietnam veterans based in La Habra, said the event will feature the raising of the POW/MIA flag and several speeches by relatives of personnel that are not accounted for.

“The ceremony is to make the public aware that there are still 2,383 Americans still unaccounted for in Southeast Asia, and we need to put pressure on Southeast Asian countries to release the bodies of our men or make our men accountable,” Kakuk said.

Westminster is among the first cities in Orange County to fly the POW/MIA flag. A goal of the Vietnam veterans’ organization is to have the flag flown in every California city, Kakuk said.
