Actor Todd Bridges, best known for his role as Gary Coleman’s brother on the television show “Diff’rent Strokes,” was arrested for investigation of attempted murder after allegedly shooting another man five times, police said today.

Bridges, 23, and Harvey Duckett, 30, were ordered held without bail at the Parker Center Jail. Police Sgt. Doug Tantee said they were arrested Thursday night in connection with the shooting and stabbing of Kenneth Clay, who was in critical but stable condition at Martin Luther King Jr.-Drew Medical Center. Clay told police he confronted the two men inside a vacant home that he was supposed to be watching on West 65th Street, a neighborhood plagued by rock cocaine dealers.

Bridges has had several previous brushes with the law. In 1987 he received a suspended sentence after pleading no contest to charges of making a bomb threat and in 1983 he paid a $240 fine for carrying a concealed firearm.
