Pacific 10 Roundup : Lichti Scores 30 as Stanford Defeats Arizona State, 75-60

Todd Lichti scored 30 points and sparked a second-half surge that carried 20th-ranked Stanford past Arizona State, 75-60, Thursday night in a Pacific 10 Conference game at Tempe, Ariz.

Lichti scored 11 points as the Cardinal (16-5 overall, 8-3 in the Pac-10) broke open the game with an 18-5 surge that gave it a 59-39 lead with 13:49 left.

Howard Wright had 5 of his 13 points in the spurt as Stanford beat the Sun Devils (10-9, 3-7) for the eighth time in the last 11 meetings.

Lichti became the No. 2 scorer in Pac-10 games with 1,199 points, passing Oregon’s Anthony Taylor (1,191) and trailing only Reggie Miller of UCLA (1,234).

Lichti also has 2,102 points in all games, third behind Lew Alcindor (now Kareem Abdul-Jabbar) of UCLA (2,325) and Sean Elliott of Arizona (2,224).

Matt Anderson scored 21 points for Arizona State.

Arizona 86, California 59--Sean Elliott hit six 3-pointers and scored 26 points as the fourth-ranked Wildcats trounced the Golden Bears at Tucson.

Cal (14-7, 5-5) rallied from an 11-point deficit to within 35-34 early in the second half before Elliott hit his first of 5 second-half 3-pointers with 2:49 gone to trigger a 12-3 run.

The Wildcats (16-2, 10-1) held Cal scoreless for the final 6:36 while scoring the last 16 points.

Washington 76, Washington State 70--Todd Lautenbach came off the bench to score 22 points and lead the Huskies past the Cougars at Seattle.

Lautenbach’s basket gave Washington (8-10, 5-5) a 51-38 lead with 16:50 left, but Washington State (7-12, 2-8) went on a 16-6 run to make it 57-54. Lautenbach hit 2 more shots, and the Huskies pulled away.

Darryl Woods scored 22 points for the Cougars.
