Isuzu Motors Ltd. of Japan, in an effort to consolidate business operations, announced a reorganization of its North American operations through its Detroit-based Isuzu Motors America Inc. subsidiary. “The reorganization was prompted by the impending start-up of new vehicle production at Isuzu’s joint venture manufacturing production plant in Indiana,” said Shin Sannomiya, Isuzu Motors America president. Subsidiaries that will be involved include Whittier, Calif.-based American Isuzu Motors Inc., which distributes cars, pickup trucks and sport utility vehicles, and El Monte, Calif.-based Isuzu Truck of America Inc., which distributes diesel-powered medium-duty trucks, a statement said. The move also includes Isuzu Technical Center of America Inc., a design and engineering company in Cerritos, Calif.; and the company’s stake in Subaru Isuzu Automotive, Inc., the joint venture in Lafayette, Ind.
