Life Amendment

Share

I read with great interest the letter from John Heaner (Jan. 30) in which he pointed out a quote from the story on President Bush’s telephone hook-up with those gathered for the 16th annual March for Life in which the President said, “America needs a human life amendment!”

This news could be very exciting if it indeed means what it implies. An end to killing each other.

Not only an end to killing unborn babies, but an end to sending our young men overseas to kill and be killed. An end to our police killing young people, and an end to our young people killing total strangers.

Would a human life amendment mean that we are to hold all life so sacred that we could do away with all tools of killing and really begin to provide good loving care to all children and adults regardless of their financial status and parentage?

Would this human life amendment include loving and nurturing our beautiful planet Earth?

What did President Bush really mean when he said that? I’d like to know.
