727 Lands Safely After Sparks Shoot From Engine

SHREVEPORT, La. —
A Delta Air Lines jet with 32 passengers aboard was forced back to Shreveport Regional Airport minutes after takeoff when the pilot shut down an engine because it was shooting sparks, officials said. The pilot landed the jet safely Monday night, using two of the Boeing 727’s three engines. No injuries were reported.
