Local News in Brief : Argument Between Gangs Ends in Death
- Share via
An argument between rival gang members at a Pizza Hut restaurant in Inglewood spilled out into the street where one man was killed and a teen-age boy wounded during a running gunfight, police said.
Inglewood police officers were sitting in cars at Imperial Highway and Sims Avenue when they saw a group of people running down the street and heard shots being fired, Sgt. Dan Milchovich said.
A 16-year-old boy was hit by gunfire and fell near the officers’ cars. Two gang members approached the boy and were about to fire a close-range fatal shot when the officers intervened, Milchovich said.
The officers shouted to the gunmen and a gunfight between them and the gang members ensued, he said. A 20-year-old gang member was killed during the battle.
Two other gang members fleeing down the street were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, he said.
