Almost 800 pounds of cocaine, with an estimated street value of $40 million, was seized in Orange and four people were arrested, Torrance Police Lt. David Marsden said today.

The seizure was the result of a two-year investigation by Torrance police and federal drug agents. Three men were arrested Thursday at a liquor store parking lot in Orange where officers found 40 pounds of cocaine in a car. After obtaining a search warrant, police later went to a house in the 77400 block of Russell Drive, about a mile from the liquor store, where they found almost 800 pounds of cocaine and arrested a fourth man, Marsden said.

The suspects are Erwin J. Gonzalez, 35; Fernando N. Andrade, 37; Gabriel N. Andrade, 41, and William Arias, 33, all Colombian nationals, Marsden said.

“It’s a significant seizure of cocaine by anybody’s standards,” Marsden said.
