Local News in Brief : Man, 31, Shot in Forum Parking Lot
Laurence Pederson, 31, was shot in the head and critically wounded in The Forum parking lot Tuesday night after backing his Jeep into a car following a Lakers game, Los Angeles police said.
Witnesses said they had sat behind the victim during the game.
Paramedics took Pederson to Centinela Hospital Medical Center in Inglewood, where he was in a coma, a nursing supervisor said.
The shooting occurred on the 90th Street side of the parking lot about 10:15 p.m., as a sellout crowd of 17,505 left the arena after watching the Lakers lose to the Detroit Pistons.
“The guy in the blue car accelerated back into the white one,” said Sgt Dan Milchovich. “When we got here he was slumped in his seat. We haven’t established any motive. We’re pretty sure it’s not gang related.”
The gunman was still at large.
