Gibson Doesn’t Need Surgery

There was good news for Kirk Gibson and the Dodgers Tuesday. The outfielder will not require any surgery on his right knee, Dr. Frank Jobe announced after examining Gibson.
Jobe said Gibson has tendinitis in the adductor tendon of the right knee, but with rest and therapy he should be at full strength by the end of spring training.
Meanwhile, Dodger executive vice president Fred Claire said the team has made another offer to pitcher Orel Hershiser and will meet again today with Hershiser’s agent, Robert Fraley, in an effort to reach agreement on a multiyear contract. Hershiser is scheduled to have an arbitration hearing Thursday, the day Dodger pitchers and catchers report to spring training.
