A lawyer for Eddie Sutton said a school official sought to discredit the Kentucky basketball coach by leaking part of the university’s response to 18 National Collegiate Athletic Assn. allegations of wrongdoing.
“They just want him out,” Terry McBrayer told the Lexington (Ky.) Herald-Leader. “Somebody is beginning to draw a line. I don’t know who it is. But he’s drawing some conclusions.”
McBrayer also told WKYT-TV in Lexington Sunday that he thought the university intentionally leaked the story to the Louisville Courier-Journal in an effort to promote the firing of Sutton at the end of the basketball season.
