Red Sox Not Worried About Article
The Boston Red Sox apparently took in stride their move from the sports pages to Penthouse magazine and revelations by Wade Boggs’ former mistress about the sex lives of several players.
In the first of two articles, Margo Adams of Costa Mesa describes her four-year affair with Boggs and talks about the third baseman’s unflattering views of other players.
“I told Wade that he had to deal with the people involved,” Manager Joe Morgan said after discussing the article in a clubhouse meeting before practice Wednesday. “We’re behind him, and right now it’s his problem. If it affects the team, then it’s my problem.”
Adams, who is receiving at least $100,000 for the story, graphically describes the sex lives of Boggs and several teammates she does not identify.
