Spain’s Seve Ballesteros will decline an invitation to play in the important Players’ Championship next month at Ponte Vedra, Fla., continuing a long-running feud with Commissioner Deane Beman of the PGA Tour.
Ballesteros, as a foreign player not on the American tour, is limited to five tournaments he can play in this country, plus the Masters, U.S. Open and PGA. He was offered tour membership after winning the Greensboro Open in 1978, but that later was revoked when he failed to play in Beman’s required minimum number of American events.
