In-Home Family Care Program Tries to Keep Kids With Parents
A new child welfare program designed as an alternative to removing children from homes in crisis will be presented by Children’s Home Society at a reception at 3:30 p.m. today at the agency’s headquarters, 2727 W. 6th St.
Society president and chief executive officer James T. Spradley Jr. will outline details of the In-Home Family Care Program. Run jointly with the Los Angeles County Department of Social Services and currently in operation in Central and South-Central Los Angeles, the program is designed to resolve domestic problems, prevent abuse and neglect of children and improve parents’ ability to function effectively so that families can remain intact.
The In-Home Family Care Program has been funded for three years by a $1.2-million grant from the Stuart Foundations and a $300,000 gift from David G. Price, a member of the Children’s Home Society board of directors.
