Woodland Hills Project Bad for Encino

Valley residents should be distressed by the proposal of the Warner Ridge developer to build seven office buildings, ranging from three to seven stories, a two-story restaurant and a parking structure to service this huge project on Warner Ridge.

It is an outrage that such heavy density projects be considered in the San Fernando Valley at a time when our streets are clogged with traffic, sewers overloaded and other infrastructures overwhelmed.

At best, the developer should be permitted only single-family dwellings on the site. I do not believe that commercial structures should be allowed east of De Soto Avenue since it serves as a natural dividing line separating the overdeveloped Warner Center from its neighbors.

The proposed project will have a major impact all over the Valley. Encino residents are impacted by the traffic and congestion from overdevelopment in the Valley, and this project will only add to the noise, congestion, traffic and load on the city waste disposal system. A limited amount of city police, fire, library and government services must be shared by the entire Valley. Construction of the project as proposed will have a major negative impact on the residents of the Valley.

I wish to voice my opposition to the project and call for a moratorium on construction of all similar projects in the Valley. The time is long overdue for the Planning Department to exert its authority by placing meaningful limits on out-of-control development.
