Igor Kazanov of the Soviet Union set a world indoor record of 7.42 seconds for the 60-meter hurdles in the Soviet indoor championships at Moscow. Kazanov shaved four-hundredths of a second off the old mark set by American Greg Foster at Indianapolis in March 1987.
