More than 25 minor earthquakes shook Costa Rica on Sunday, frightening some residents but causing no injuries or major damage, authorities said.

The National Seismology Network said the first quake struck at 6:21 a.m. and registered a magnitude of between 4.3 and 4.8. About 25 weaker quakes rattled the country during the next four hours, only about five of which could be felt by residents, the network said.

All the quakes were centered about 40 miles south of San Jose.
