Authorities today searched for a paroled killer suspected of shooting to death an undercover federal drug agent in the officer’s car.
Everette Hatcher, 46, was shot three times on a dead-end street in a remote area on Staten Island on Tuesday night, police sources said. A backup surveillance team found the agent dead minutes after the shooting, which neighbors reported hearing. The slaying was the first of a federal drug agent in the New York area in more than a decade.
The agent had gone to Staten Island to meet Constible Farace, 28, from whom he had bought drugs before. Authorities believe Farace showed up at the meeting, and they said he is a suspect in the slaying.
