Blue Chip Miami Recruit Wants Out
Blue chip Miami recruit Darren Krein doesn’t want to attend Miami now that head coach Jimmy Johnson has left the university for the Dallas Cowboys, and the Aurora, Colo., senior has hired a lawyer to challenge the legality of his national letter of intent.
The move, announced Wednesday by Krein’s attorney, makes Krein the first of the school’s stable of 25 recruits to say he doesn’t want to stay.
Miami quarterback Bryan Fortay of East Brunswick, N.J., has said he plans to transfer if Miami offensive coordinator Gary Stevens isn’t promoted to Johnson’s old post.
In response, Miami associate athletic director Doug Johnson made it clear the school feels no obligation to let anyone go.
