Culver City : Architect Selection Process
The Redevelopment Agency approved a plan to limit competition for architect of the new City Hall.
About a dozen architectural firms will be asked to submit their qualifications for the project. The Redevelopment Agency will then ask up to three of those firms for specific design proposals based on criteria established by the city. Each of the companies submitting detailed proposals will receive up to $10,000.
The Redevelopment Agency and City Council will make a final decision on the design for the new City Hall based on the proposals submitted and other considerations, including fees and previous work.
Staff members said they recommended the limited competition to avoid receiving a large number of proposals that would not be in keeping with city design criteria and building and zoning code requirements.
