The Coast Guard called off the search for a man who apparently became disoriented after a traffic accident and fell off the Bay Bridge between San Francisco and Oakland. The man, bleeding from the head, wandered away from the accident near Yerba Buena Island and fell 190 feet into the water below. Yerba Buena is about halfway across the 8 1/2-mile-long span. The Coast Guard launched a 41-foot utility boat to search the 52-degree waters.
