IN BRIEF : Brazil Beats U.S. in Youth Cup Soccer

Ricardo Franca scored in the first minute of the second half and Leonardo Nascimento de Araujo scored with 21 minutes left today as Brazil beat the United States, 2-0, in the third-place game of the World Youth Cup.

Franca scored when he took a soft, floating pass from De Araujo and sent a strong left-footed shot into the goal.

De Araujo scored on a 22-yard shot past a diving Kasey Keller, the U.S. goalkeeper.

Nigeria and Portugal were to meet in the finals of the tournament for players under 19 years of age.
