John Wayne Airport will celebrate completion of the first building of its $310-million improvement project today with an event featuring antique airplanes and automobiles.
“Orange County--100 years on the Move” will also include demonstrations of antique high-wheeled bicycle riding and displays of old-time airline uniforms. The celebration will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The new southwest parking structure is four stories high and has 1,476 spaces. It will officially open to the public Sunday. It will be open from 6 a.m. to midnight at $1 an hour or $12 a day.
A shuttle will run every 10 to 15 minutes from the parking structure to the terminal until midnight.
