Women’s Roundup : CS Long Beach Extends Streak

Cal State Long Beach, the seventh-ranked team in the country, extended its winning streak to 18 games with an easy 81-68 road victory over UC Santa Barbara Saturday night in the final Big West Conference game of the regular season.

Forward Cheryl Dowell scored a season-high 20 points and had 13 rebounds to lead the 49ers, who are 25-4 overall and 18-0 in the Big West Conference. It’s the second straight season they have gone 18-0 in conference play. Santa Barbara is 9-18 and 4-14.

UCLA 77, Oregon State 61--Junior forward Sandra VanEmbricqs scored a game-high 25 points and had 13 rebounds to help the Bruins snap a two-game losing streak in the Pacific 10 game at UCLA.

Molly Tideback contributed 16 points and seven rebounds in just 18 minutes of action for UCLA (12-14 overall, 8-8 in Pacific-10 play). Chelle Flamoe led Oregon State (13-14, 7-10) with 23 points.

USC 71, Oregon 68--Tammy Hammond scored 18 points, including a key free throw with 1:39 left, to lead the Trojans to the victory in a Pacific-10 game at USC.

USC (12-14, 8-8) trailed at halftime, 41-39, then outscored the Ducks (18-10, 10-7), 31-17 to take a 70-58 lead with 5:30 left. But a short jumper by Stefanie Kasperski began an 8-0 run that cut the lead to 70-66 with 2:37 left.
