A man who was wounded during a confrontation with police at a Scripps Ranch store pleaded guilty Tuesday to shooting a police dog.

Ben Perrin, 24, faces a maximum sentence of three years in state prison.

Perrin was shot at least five times by police Nov. 15 after he held them at bay for more than nine hours at a K mart store using a rifle from the store and his own ammunition.

Perrin was reportedly upset over breaking up with his girlfriend. He did not take any hostages.
