A 17-year-old Clairemont boy was arrested Thursday after police found him with two pipe bombs and enough material to make four more, authorities said.

Police were tipped off at 10:19 a.m. by an anonymous phone call saying there were several dead bodies in a house in the 4300 block of Mt. Putman Avenue. When they arrived, the boy, whose name was withheld because he is a juvenile, refused to let them in.

But “because of the potential of injured parties being inside, the officers gained entry into the house,” said Sgt. Jim Long. Police did not say whether they had to break in. No bodies were found.

Instead, police discovered a small-scale pipe bomb factory and a small bag of methamphetamine.

The boy was being held in Juvenile Hall on suspicion of possessing a destructive device, possessing materials for building a destructive device and possessing a controlled substance for sale.
