Making ‘Day One’

Share

An unfair impression may have been left by your article on the television feature “Day One” (“ ‘Day One’ Project Marks Strong Contrast to Other Spelling Efforts,” by Nikki Finke, March 4).

I did tell your reporter, who quoted me accurately, that I asked for creative autonomy before I worked on the project (just as I ask for it on other projects). What I also said, however, which was not in the story, was that from the beginning the creative experience with Aaron Spelling and his associates was as good as any I have had. I also said that the first draft of my script had problems which Aaron personally accurately diagnosed and which I was happy to correct.
