Actress Candice Bergen says she hopes to distance her 3-year-old daughter from the Beverly Hills life style. “I find the narcissism and self-involvement . . . really appalling. People’s preoccupation with their looks and their clothes at a time when there’s so much suffering in the country--I just find it grotesque. It bothers me that people who earn literally hundreds of millions of dollars are desperate to find ways to spend it on themselves and are so schmucky about it.” Before her daughter’s birth, Bergen said she was afraid she had no maternal instincts. “But then suddenly Chloe was born. . . . I was so overwhelmed and ecstatic to have this baby,” the 41-year-old actress says in an interview in the April issue of Redbook.
