An explosion in a metal processing plant in Anaheim this morning killed one person and injured four others.
The victim, who was not identified, died at Kaiser Permanente Hospital in Anaheim, a hospital spokeswoman said.
Anaheim public information officer Carolyn Greibe said one other person, either an employee or witness to the explosion, also was taken to Kaiser for treatment. Three more were taken to Placentia Linda Hospital after inhaling fumes.
Seven firefighters were exposed to zinc dust in the explosion, which occurred about 11 a.m. at the Reliable Recovery plant in the 1300 block of North Brasher Street near La Palma Avenue. Greibe said they were being decontaminated at the scene. Hazardous material team members determined that there was no immediate danger to people in the area, Greibe said.
