Monterey Park : City Joins in Billboard Suit

Share

A Los Angeles County Superior Court judge has granted Monterey Park’s request to join in a suit to block the erection of a huge billboard for the Almansor Court restaurant in neighboring Alhambra.

Monterey Park officials, in their request to join the case last week, said the sign would be a public nuisance and violates Alhambra’s sign ordinance. Alhambra city officials last month obtained a court order that temporarily prohibits construction of the doubled-sided, 50- by 20-foot billboard, which will be placed atop poles that would make the sign 78 feet high.

The court case will be heard again April 4, Monterey Park officials said.

Monterey Park and Alhambra residents have complained that the sign would be obtrusive.
