The City Council has named Charlton Heston an honorary citizen of Beverly Hills.
“Charlton Heston has enlightened audiences with his theatrical abilities since the age of 5,” said the citation awarded Tuesday night, noting that the Beverly Hills resident has “graced the world with numerous performances on stage, television, and in motion pictures.”
The citation noted that Heston won an Oscar for his performance in the lead role of “Ben-Hur” and that he wrote books, directed movie and stage productions and served for six terms as president of the Screen Actors Guild.
