Living in the Madonna Moment
I long for the days when television possessed backbone and strictly held to a morality code. “Pop Eye” columnist Patrick Goldstein seems to believe artists should be free to express any personal view, no matter how offensive, independent of corporate interference (March 12).
If Pepsi doesn’t speak out, isn’t it silently endorsing Madonna’s lewd behavior?
Christian-beating, especially Catholic-beating, is rampant in TV and movies. (It looks like someone’s always trying to take potshots at No. 1.) Note “The Thorn Birds,” “Agnes of God” and “True Confessions.”
