Fullerton Hits Four Homers to Beat FSU
Powered by four home runs, Cal State Fullerton defeated Florida State, 9-4, Saturday, in a nonconference baseball game at Florida State.
Florida State (22-9) scored first when Allen Bevis doubled to lead off the first inning, stole third and scored on Pedro Grifol’s sacrifice fly.
Fullerton (18-8) tied the score in the third on Paul Bunch’s home run, his fourth of the season.
Ralph Ramirez’s two-run homer gave Fullerton a 3-1 lead in the fourth, and Dave Staton hit a two-run homer to put Fullerton up, 8-1, in the eighth. Staton leads Fullerton with five home runs.
John Paboojian concluded Fullerton’s scoring with a bases-empty home run in the ninth.
Sophomore Huck Flener (7-0) went 5 1/3 innings, allowing one run on five hits.
