Industry News: The newly formed independent production company, Once Upon a Time, has an initial production slate of nine projects budgeted at $29.5 million, reports Stanley M. Brooks, founder/chairman/president. Primary focus is on movies for network, cable and syndication. . . . Film and TV producer Edgar J. Scherick and Haim Saban, chairman of Saban Entertainment, have formed Saban/Scherick Productions to produce prime-time television programming. Their first project will be “Phantom of the Opera,” a four-hour miniseries for NBC. . . .
