Still Trying to Make Boggs Deal, Red Sox Reportedly Talk With Royals

Share

The Boston Red Sox, stepping up their attempts to trade controversial star Wade Boggs, talked to the Kansas City Royals last weekend about a deal for the five-time American League batting champion.

Royals General Manager John Schuerholz told the Kansas City Star that talks have taken place but would not identify the Royal players involved and said chances of a deal are slim.

The Royals executive described Boggs’ personal problems as “somewhat disconcerting.”

The revelations resulting from Boggs’ relationship with Margo Adams have troubled Red Sox brass, which was further angered by his appearance last week with Barbara Walters on “20/20.” The team has since stepped up efforts to trade Boggs.
