Five Northern California armories were closed to the homeless as warmer temperatures took hold. The armories were those in San Mateo, Sunnyvale, Sacramento, Roseville and San Jose. The National Guard said armories in San Rafael, Gilroy, Concord, Richmond and Redding were still open to the homeless when needed. Of the 150 armories in California, 31 have been open at one time or another for those with nowhere else to stay during cold weather.
