Lakewood : Construction Contract for River Park Work Awarded

Share

A San Fernando firm has been given the construction contract for $1.3 million worth of improvements to River Park, which is part of a chain of parks along the San Gabriel River.

The Lakewood City Council voted at its meeting Tuesday night to award the contract to the low bidder, Valley Crest Landscape, whose bid was 15% below the city engineer’s estimate of $1.5 million. Seven firms submitted bids.

The park, much of which is already developed, is on the east side of the river between Carson Street and Del Amo Boulevard. The park improvements, generally north of Lakewood’s riding stables near Carson Street, will include the addition of playing fields, picnic areas and restrooms. Work is scheduled to begin next month and be completed by mid-August.
