2 Meetings to Be Held on Proposed Dump
Executives of a private landfill firm will hold two public meetings today to explain their plans to open a dump on the outskirts of Santa Clarita in Elsmere Canyon.
Officials from BKK Corp. will give a status report on the proposed dump at 3 p.m. in the Ranch House Inn, 27413 Tourney Road, Valencia. The program will be repeated at 7:30 p.m.
Kenneth B. Kazarian, BKK president, has said his company plans to have the landfill operating by 1991. Some Santa Clarita City Council members have expressed reservations about the plan, saying a dump in Elsmere Canyon could contaminate the region’s ground water. The canyon is east of the Antelope Valley Freeway and just north of the Los Angeles city limits.
